BUCCAL FAT REMOVAL
Buccal fat pads are pads of fat that sit in the lower part of the cheeks, and give the appearance of chubby cheeks.
Buccal Fat removal, or cheek reduction surgery is a common procedure for those wishing to achieve a more defined or chiseled, contoured look to their face. It is very popular with Asian and African American patients.
An incision is made inside the mouth, between the cheek and gums, leaving no visible scar. The fat pad is then extracted through this incision which thins out the cheeks, leaving the face with a more angular appearance. Dissolvable stiches are then used to close the incisions.
There is minimal swelling and little, if any, bruising allowing patients to return to most normal activities within days of surgery.
