As you age, the appearance of your facial contour can begin to change and cause you to look older than you really are. Although you may not be ready for a full facelift procedure, you may wish to consider a mini facelift. This procedure targets the lower area of the face in order to reduce sagging in the cheek and jowl area. In addition, the mini facelift is performed in a shorter amount of time than a traditional facelift and the recovery time is not as long. Ideal candidates for this procedure are often in their 40s.
During the Consultation
In order to determine if this procedure is the most appropriate to meet your needs, you should meet with Dr. Middleton in Toronto. During an initial consultation, your facial structure will be thoroughly examined, the procedure is discussed in detail, and your questions/concerns will be addressed. After you have met with Dr. Middleton, the most appropriate treatment plan is created to meet your desired outcome.
Procedure
The mini facelift can be performed in one of two methods – endoscopic or non-endoscopic. Typically, those who undergo an endoscopic procedure only require a few, small incisions in the target area. These openings allow for a minimally invasive surgery by using long surgical instruments to lift and re-contour the facial tissues. Fat and underlying tissue may also be removed through this technique. The incisions are then closed and patients may anticipate minimal scarring that is easily concealed in natural folds.
During the non-endoscopic method, incisions are made around the ear’s natural folds in order to expose the underlying facial tissues and fat to be removed. Dr. Middleton will then remove excess skin and close the incision in a manner that will conceal scarring. Either may involve laser liposuction
Recovery
After your procedure, you will need to keep your head elevated for at least 24 hours in order to minimize swelling. Most patients experience minimal discomfort and can be easily managed with pain medication prescribed by Dr. Middleton. You may return to work in two to three days; however, it is important that you refrain from strenuous activity in order to allow for proper healing.
Benefits
Toronto mini facelift patients may anticipate a smoother, more youthful facial appearance after their mini facelift procedure. This surgery can remove several years from a patient’s face and results are long-lasting, often allowing patients to wait longer to undergo further, more extensive facial rejuvenating procedures. However, patients should understand that a mini facelift will not stop the natural aging process, but rather slow its progression.
